John’s Story
My journey with eMi began in the Himalayan foothills of Northern India, interning for six months with the eMi South Asia office in 2000 while completing my undergraduate studies. Experiencing God’s passion for the poor in community with dedicated design professionals set the course for pursuing a similar calling that landed my wife and I in Kampala, Uganda as eMi staff in 2003. As part of the start-up team for the newly-formed East Africa office, our first official project later developed into a three year staff-on-assignment position in Jinja, Uganda, designing and constructing a rescue home and school for orphaned and vulnerable children. In 2010 we returned to the office in Kampala with our two sons Zane and Zachary to continue on with the broader work of eMi in East Africa. We’re thankful for what God has accomplished in our lives to bring us here and we’re privileged to be a part of a dedicated team bringing hope to the world’s poor.

Verses to Live By
Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2
