The ministry of the Gem Foundation was founded in 2014 after recognizing a critical need for Uganda’s most vulnerable children, the “Special Needs Orphan”. They are a specialized ministry with a vision to “Love the broken, encourage the weary, and strengthen the weak”. To fulfill this calling they advocate, protect, educate, love, and care for children with special needs who have been abandoned, abused, or orphaned. They seek to break false local stigmas and demonstrate the love of Christ to all Ugandans, demonstrating that every child with special needs is a precious Gem from the heart of God.
The Gem Foundation has acquired 84 acres of land in central Uganda in the Kakiri area of Wakiso District. The vision for this land site is “The Gem Village” which is to a fully accessible village designed to provide the best possible care for orphaned children with special needs to grow and thrive in their daily lives. The Village will be a complete care facility with; homes, medical facility, special needs school, therapy building, church, Accessible playground, assisted living community for aging disabled, staff housing, and much more.
This multi-disciplinary Master Planning effort will seek to accommodate the following program on The Gem Village 84-acre site:
Main Building: Therapy, Offices, Kitchen, Dining
Assisted Living Home
Security Facilities and Entrance Gate
We will also develop conceptual designs for The Gem Village first-phase structures – the Main Building, Children’s Home, and Assisted Living Housing.
Will you consider joining our team as we partner with The Gem Foundation to design facilities needed to spread the living gospel through care for the special needs children of Uganda?
