Project Scope

It’s been said that the church in Africa is a “mile-wide and an inch deep” – that is, there are many who profess to be ‘Christians’ but the depth of teaching in African churches is often lacking.  Many theories exist as to why this is, but a common theme among them points to the lack of pastoral training available.  Sufficiency of Scripture Ministries is a non-profit, Christian organization whose vision is to empower Uganda with the hope of God’s Word by providing pastoral training and biblical discipleship.

In addition, SOS Ministries has a desire to minister to the local people surrounding the site through mercy ministry opportunities, providing care and education for those who otherwise cannot provide for themselves.  By meeting both the spiritual and educational needs of the nearby communities, SOS ministries hopes to impact the people of Uganda in a way that promotes sustainable progress for the lives of these people in need.

Having recently completed the purchase of a picturesque, 100-acre plot of land in the heart of the Central Ugandan bush, SOS has big plans to minister to the nearby communities through a Biblical Training Center, a Primary School and a Secondary School.  Clearing the buildable portions of the dense jungle for roads and future occupancy is already underway in order to facilitate the long-term goals of the site, but Master Plan layout, building design, water and wastewater systems, and electrical power will all need to be addressed during the project.  The training center will include classrooms, dormitories, kitchen and dining facilities, administrative and meeting areas, and recreation facilities for a fully housed student population of around 200.  They also have plans to build housing for long term missionaries, as well as for some of the local staff members and families.

We are looking for an architect to help the team with the master plan and building layout, a civil engineer to assist in the water and wastewater system design, a surveyor to survey the property, an electrical engineer to research the power supply for the site, and a graphic designer to help with promotional materials and the design report.

SOS Ministries is exemplifying what Christ has called each of us to do by reaching out to the physically and spiritually poor people of Central Uganda.  Will you consider standing beside them and joining our team in having an eternal impact on the lives of the people of Uganda?  Ten days in the heart of the beautiful, African ‘bush’ awaits those who would answer ‘yes’ to the call of using your talents and abilities to advance the Kingdom of God on the other side of the world!
