Kira Farm Training Centre

The vision of Amigos International (Amigos) is to make a positive difference in the lives of widows, orphans and underprivileged people in sub-Saharan Africa. Amigos is providing care, education and vocational training, empowering Africans to achieve their highest potential and helping them to become confident, caring and self-supporting individuals.

For 5 years Amigos International was providing care and education for over 200 orphans in the outskirts of Kampala. They now desire to offer orphans education and life skills in agriculture so that these children can return to their villages and become self-reliant. The Kira Farm Training Center is 22 acres located outside of Kampala that will provide a hands-on teaching center for these children. Already in place are a number of agricultural areas as well as four fish ponds to grow and harvest tilapia.

eMi EA worked with Amigos to develop a master plan that includes everything needed for a working farm and training centre for the students. The master plan includes poultry houses, additional fish ponds, demonstration areas for various farming practices, accommodations for the students and guests, and classroom/vocational training buildings.
